A Song of Almost Saying It

“There’s a moment before you say it — when you’re full of love, full of need, but frozen in fear. Not because you don’t mean it, but because you’ve been here before. Push is about that edge. That pause. That fear of not being met. It’s maybe the most vulnerable thing I’ve written.”

Push
A Song of Fear and Want

PUSH

A song suspended on the edge of saying too much. “Push” is for every heart that hesitated

— not because it didn’t feel deeply, but because it feared being too much, or not enough. Zhaina Blair’s voice moves like a trembling hand reaching for someone who might not reach back. But she sings anyway.

PUSH Lyrics

I stood at your door, breath held tight,
Heart too loud in the dead of night.
Thought if I moved, it might all fall
So I kept my lips shut… said nothing at all.

I filled the quiet with made-up signs,
Rehearsed goodbyes between the lines.
But what if the lock was never real?
What if the key was how I feel?

You gave me glances I couldn’t define,
Didn’t dare to hope you might be mine.
I let my fear draw the final scene,
Closed our book on what we might have been.

Push — even if your voice might shake.
Push — even if your heart might break.
Push — before the silence takes control…
You’ll never know if you never push.

I walked away, but the words still stay.
And now I carry what I didn’t say.
Fear wrote the ending before I began,
But I’m done living behind the “can’t.”

Push — even if your voice might shake.
Push — even if your heart might break.
Push — before the silence takes control…
You’ll never know if you never push.

The door was quiet, but not closed
And maybe you were waiting all along.
I never knocked…
And that was my only mistake.
Now I just wonder what we could’ve made.
